Opening Manifesto
The values, habits, and institutions that built the modern world.
Constitution of Progress — Opening Manifesto
In this opening manifesto, we set the direction for the series: a journey through the
principles that made civilization possible.
You will hear why progress is not automatic, how it depends on character and
cooperation, and why markets, science, freedom, institutions, and innovation still
matter today.
The series explores six core articles:
- The Individual — character as civilization's first institution
- Cooperation — trust among strangers as the architecture of complex society
- Prosperity — created value that reduces suffering and creates breathing room
- Knowledge — what is tested, remembered, and handed forward
- Innovation — disciplined optimism that refuses to accept present limits as final
- Freedom — ordered liberty under equal law, where responsibility becomes real
Each episode asks what happens when one of these is neglected, and what it means to
renew it. The closing covenant and a full reading of the charter complete the series.
This is not a set of commandments. It is a voluntary charter for those who wish to
live as builders and stewards in the long human effort to expand capability, dignity,
freedom, and opportunity across generations.
We inherited progress. The question is whether we will deserve it, protect it, deepen
it, and pass it on.
